More taps on the call button do not always mean a busier phone. Before deciding what to change, check what each number actually counts.

This guide explains the Business Profile performance screen. Official metric definitions were checked on October 1, 2026.

The call metric counts button clicks

Google’s performance guidance explains how to select a reporting period while signed into an account associated with a verified profile. Available metrics vary by business and setup. The report can include activity from organic results and Google Ads.

Click and direction metrics are also defined in Google’s official metric reference. The last column below explains what needs a separate check.

MetricWhat it countsKeep separate
ViewsProfile views on Search and Maps, with limits on repeat countingStore visits and sales
CallsClicks on the profile’s call buttonConnected calls and completed conversations
DirectionsRequests for directions to the locationConfirmed arrivals
Website clicksClicks on the profile’s website linkCompleted inquiries and bookings

Record the period and business context together

Choose one location and one month, then use the same recording method next month. Calendar length and opening days can differ. Mark an unavailable figure as “not checked” rather than turning it into zero.

Next stepOne check, a responsible person and a review dateFor example, test the booking link on a phone

This is Kobizmap’s suggested working log. You can review monthly patterns without including customer names or message contents. Google updates search terms near the start of the month, and they may take several days to appear; keep the date you checked them.

Follow the step where a change appears

If call clicks rise but inquiries stay similar, check the public phone number and hours. If website clicks rise but bookings do not, open the booking link on a phone and follow the screens before completion. These are candidate checks, not proven explanations.

If direction requests fall, note holidays or fewer opening days before drawing a conclusion. Recording one change and its date makes the next comparison easier to interpret.

Avoid calculating a conversion rate from unrelated totals. Profile clicks and all inquiries received by the store may use different populations and counting methods. This is a note template, not an example of measured results.

Observation: [metric and comparison period]. Other changes: [closures, advertising or update dates]. Still unknown: [connection status or referral source]. Next check: [action, owner and date].
